SIMEON EDWARDS FROM FISTHOFT SENT BACK TO JAIL FOR FAILURE TO NOTIFY POLICE AND BREACHES
In April 2013, a serious legal case unfolded involving Simeon Edwards, a known sex offender residing in Fishtoft. Edwards was legally required to inform law enforcement authorities of his new residential address within three days of moving, a condition that he failed to meet. This oversight led to his re-incarceration, as confirmed by proceedings at Boston Magistrates’ Court.Furthermore, Edwards was found to have violated a community order that had been imposed upon him earlier in January. The order was related to multiple offenses, including a sexual assault committed against a girl under the age of 13. His failure to adhere to the conditions of his prison license compounded his legal troubles, prompting authorities to take swift action.
During the court hearing, Edwards, aged 19, admitted to all the charges brought against him. His defense attorney, Carrie Simson, argued that despite his failure to comply with the notification requirement, Edwards had made efforts to stay in contact with both police and probation services. She emphasized that he had not attempted to evade detection or hide from authorities.
As a result of his breaches, Edwards was ordered to serve a 28-day period back in prison. This case highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in monitoring sex offenders and ensuring compliance with legal restrictions designed to protect the community.
