SHAUN PARROTT FROM WALLASEY CAUGHT IN ONLINE PAEDOPHILE PLOT
In October 2017, a disturbing case unfolded involving Shaun Parrott, a resident of Wallasey, who found himself in court after falling into the trap set by an online paedophile hunting group. The incident began when members of Dark Justice, a specialized organization dedicated to exposing internet predators, created a fake profile on the mobile dating app Qeep.
This profile, under the alias “Amy,” was designed to lure potential offenders and was accompanied by a picture of a girl who appeared to be underage.
Within just twenty minutes of posting the profile on July 17, Shaun Parrott, aged 44, initiated contact with the fake account using the username “Bimale Rape Me.” Despite being aware of her age, he engaged in lengthy conversations, during which he correctly stated his age and showed no hesitation when she revealed she was only 13 and from Newcastle.
Prosecutor Simon Duncan outlined that Parrott’s responses included provocative questions such as, “Are you a virgin honey or a naughty girl?” and he expressed interest in having sex with her.
He also provided his mobile number, continuing the dialogue through WhatsApp.
During these exchanges, Parrott claimed he would travel to Newcastle to meet her and even offered to teach her sexual techniques.
At one point, he professed love for her and said he wanted to give her a baby, further illustrating the disturbing nature of his intentions.
The two had initially arranged to meet on August 1, but Parrott later claimed he could not attend.
The conversations took a darker turn after the girl asked what he would do if he became angry.
When she did not respond, he demanded she answer immediately, using aggressive language such as “answer me now bitch,” and made threats against her mother, stating, “your mum’s dead.” Despite multiple plans to meet, including an arrangement at the Leasowe Castle Hotel in Wallasey, these meetings never materialized.
Parrott repeatedly made excuses to avoid actual contact, and their communication ended on September 4.
However, the police, alerted by the Dark Justice group, arrested Parrott at his home on Mackenzie Road, Leasowe, on September 7.
During police interviews, Parrott admitted to the conversations but claimed he had not met the girl because he “bottled it.” He acknowledged that he knew she was pretending to be 13 and admitted that he understood his actions were wrong.
Parrott explained that he sent the threatening messages because he believed “some girls like the bad boy approach,” suggesting that his threats were more about bravado than genuine intent, according to prosecutor Simon Duncan.
Parrott, who had no previous convictions related to similar offenses, pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity and attempting to communicate sexually with a child.
Judge Neil Flewitt, QC, described Parrott’s online alias as “disturbing” and noted that his conduct spanned over seven weeks.
The judge emphasized that although the threats may have been bravado, they would have been deeply upsetting to a 13-year-old girl.
In sentencing, Judge Flewitt sentenced Parrott to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years.
He also ordered him to complete 10 days of rehabilitation activities and attend a sex offenders treatment program.
Additionally, Parrott was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same period, underscoring the seriousness of his actions and the measures taken to prevent future offenses.
