2007: WEST NORFOLK MAN JAILED FOR SYSTEMATIC ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS OVER 25 YEARS AGO
A west Norfolk man who “systematically” abused two young girls more than 25 years ago was today jailed for two and half years and placed on the sex offenders' register for life.Shaun Edwards, 44, of Avenue Road, Hunstanton, was also banned from working with children and made subject of a sexual offences prevention order under which he cannot have any unsupervised contact with children aged under 16.
Norwich Crown Court heard that the offences were committed when he was aged 19 and had involved two young girls.
Edwards admitted two indecent assaults on one girl and another indecent assault on the second victim.
Jailing Edwards, Judge Peter Jacobs told him the effect on his victims had been “devastating” and “systematic abuse”.
Philip Farr, mitigating, said the offences happened 25 years ago and that Edwards was of good character, adding: “It is something he has put to the back of his mind.
It is something he has not wanted to confront.”
