Peterborough Child Sexual Abuser
A man named Sharia Shajahan from Stothard Street in east London was convicted of multiple sexual offences involving young girls in Peterborough, with incidents dating back over twenty years, from May 1999 to September 2000. The allegations came to light after a victim came forward in 2019, prompting an investigation that led to his trial. At Huntingdon Law Courts, Shajahan was found guilty of four counts of indecent assault against girls under 14 years old and received a sentence of three years in prison. Detective Sergeant Steve Ward described his actions as shameful, pointing out that he targeted vulnerable children for these harmful acts and caused them suffering they should not have had to endure. He commended the victims for their bravery in speaking out and expressed the hope that the punishment would bring them some relief and closure.
