WESTCLIFF STALKER SEAN WOODHAM JAILED FOR HARASSMENT
A persistent stalker and drug trafficker has returned to custody after beginning to harass a woman mere hours following his release from a previous sentence for the same behavior.
Sean Woodham, aged 35, of Tudor Road in Westcliff, contacted his former partner 337 times over a few weeks and sent her numerous text messages.
During a hearing at Basildon Crown Court, it was revealed that Woodham had fallen into substance abuse following his separation from the mother of his child, turning to drug dealing to support his addiction.
“Your ex-partner was understandably concerned about your daughter spending time alone with you while you were drinking and using or selling drugs,” stated Judge Samantha Cohen.
“Your harassment led to the issuance of a restraining order to protect her.” The 2024 restraining order permitted him to see his daughter but explicitly forbade him from directly contacting her mother.
Instead, all communication had to occur through two designated relatives of his.
However, the court was informed that by June 2025, Woodham had already violated the restraining order on five occasions.
On June 4, Judge Cohen sentenced him to 10 weeks in prison for harassment, along with a 20-month suspended sentence for drug-dealing.
She explained that she chose a “lenient” sentence due to “considerable mitigation” relating to Woodham’s efforts to improve his life.
Nevertheless, in a subsequent hearing on Wednesday (September 3), the judge told him: “You were released from prison on July 8th… and by 6:30 p.m.
that same day, you resumed your campaign of harassment.
“You made silent calls to her 337 times between July 8th and July 23rd.” The court was told that Woodham’s former partner lived in constant fear that his behavior might escalate and that he might appear at her residence.
“Based on the Crown’s description, your conduct is accurately characterized as fixated, obsessive, unwanted, and repetitive,” said Judge Cohen.
“The victim has been extremely distressed by this.
She describes your behavior as relentless.
“It appears that your actions are a deliberate form of punishment directed at her for the difficulties you've faced in seeing your daughter — issues that are entirely your own doing.” As a result, the judge reactivated the 20-month suspended sentence and sentenced him to an additional 10 months in prison, to run consecutively, for the new charges of stalking and harassment.
