DOMESTIC ABUSER SEAN WILLIAMS JAILED FOR REPEATED ATTACKS ON PARTNER
A domestic abuser named Sean Williams, aged 30, of Ger Ty Mawr in Carway, has been sentenced for a series of violent offenses against his partner and criminal damage.Williams was accused of attacking his partner on three occasions: March 12, April 1, and August 25 of the previous year.
Additionally, he was charged with damaging a door handle at a Carmarthenshire Council property on June 29 and a door frame on August 6.
During his court appearance, Williams denied the allegations, calling them “a load of rubbish,” but later admitted guilt to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two battery offenses, and two criminal damage offenses.
The court was informed that his partner was considered particularly vulnerable due to the nature of the offenses.
Williams was already in prison due to the activation of a suspended sentence for non-compliance.
In mitigation, his lawyer acknowledged that Williams recognized his shortcomings and the impact of his drug use, which exacerbated his mental health.
The judge condemned the behaviour, emphasizing that assaulting a partner, especially within the home, is particularly unacceptable, and highlighted the rise in domestic violence.
He stated, “This is bullying kind of behaviour” and noted that drugs greatly impair judgment.
The court concluded that only a custodial sentence was appropriate, and Williams was sentenced to 17 months imprisonment to run consecutively to his existing sentence.
He was also given a 10-year restraining order, explicitly instructed to leave his partner alone.
Williams denied further charges of strangulation, assault by beating, and criminal damage, and the court recorded formal not guilty verdicts for these offences.
