MAN JAILED FOR RAPING AND ASSAULTING A WOMAN
A man from Sandy has been sentenced to prison after his conviction for raping and physically assaulting a woman, an ordeal that left her feeling like “a scared shell full of anxiety and fear.” Sean Wilcox subjected the victim to prolonged abuse over several years, contributing to her ongoing fear regarding what he might do next.After gathering the courage to report the crimes to police, an investigation was initiated by the Bedfordshire Police’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) team.
Following this, Wilcox was detained.
The 35-year-old resident of East Road, Sandy, admitted to two counts of rape and two of causing actual bodily harm.
Additionally, he was convicted of a separate rape incident investigated by Thames Valley Police.
He received an 18-year prison sentence.
In a victim impact statement, the survivor described the lasting trauma she endured.
She said: “Simply being awake felt like a nightmare.
I was so ashamed.
I was his victim, but I didn’t really know it.
I just knew shame and humiliation.
The mental scars live with me all day, every day.”
