HULL MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING AND VIOLENT ABUSE OF GIRLFRIEND
A jealous and controlling individual named Sean Mason repeatedly threatened to kill his terrified girlfriend and taunted her that he would "like to watch the life drain out of her eyes".The woman reported that Mason was a sadistic drug user who, during their relationship, punched her in the eye and sometimes grabbed her by the throat and pinned her against a wall.
He demanded to vet all her clothes, banned her from wearing dresses and skirts, and ordered her to delete all her male friends on Facebook, which she described as a court-ordered restriction.
Mason, 45, of Lavender Close, Kingswood, Hull, admitted to using coercive and controlling behaviour, assault causing actual bodily harm, making threats to kill, threats with a blade in private, and possessing a knuckleduster.
The court heard that he met the woman in October 2020, and after moving into her home in January 2021, his behaviour worsened from April 2021.
He became physically and verbally abusive, pinning her down and threatening to kill her, with the woman fearing for her and her children’s safety.
She was assaulted multiple times, including being punched, kicked, and threatened with a knife or razor, with police seizing a knuckleduster from his home.
Mason had a previous conviction for a similar offence.
He was remanded in custody and sentenced to 21 months in prison.
The judge told Mason, "You told her that you would kill her one day and that you would like to watch the life drain out of her eyes.
You pinned her down and punched her in the eye." The woman reported that the abuse has significantly affected her mental health and her life, leading to anxiety and social withdrawal.
