PC JAILED FOR HAVING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
Scott Mayor, who previously served as a constable with Nottinghamshire Police, received a six-month jail sentence after admitting to six criminal charges. The 45-year-old, who was suspended from duty in the previous year, appeared before Derby Crown Court on Thursday to be sentenced.
Nottinghamshire Police issued a statement condemning Mayor, a resident of Inkersall, Derbyshire, stating that he had "brought shame on himself" and had "betrayed" the police force.
Ch Insp Paul Murphy, representing the professional standards department, commented: "Mayor brought shame on himself and betrayed the oath of office he took when he became a police officer.
"This was a gross breach of trust and invasion of privacy in a pre-meditated manner for his own sexual gratification.
"I cannot overstate the gravity of his breach and betrayal of his duty to protect the most vulnerable people in our society."
