Stirling Rapist
A man identified as Scott Kelly has been sentenced to a four-year prison term following his conviction for serious sexual offences, including rape and assault, committed against a woman in the Stirling area. The sentencing took place at Edinburgh High Court on Friday, where Kelly, aged 28, was formally handed the custodial sentence after a jury found him guilty last month of the charges brought against him.

The case has garnered significant attention from law enforcement officials, with Detective Inspector Craig Faulds of the Public Protection Unit emphasizing the importance of thorough investigations into sexual offences. He stated that police will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to investigate all reports of sexual violence, underscoring the commitment to justice and victim support.

DI Faulds praised the victim for her remarkable courage in coming forward to report the crimes. “The victim showed an enormous amount of courage in reporting these crimes to the police and in doing so Kelly will now face the consequences of his actions,” he said. He also expressed hope that the bravery demonstrated by the victim would serve as an encouragement for others who have endured similar experiences within domestic relationships to seek help and report abuse.

He reaffirmed the police’s dedication to pursuing justice, stating, “We will thoroughly investigate all reports of sexual offences to bring perpetrators of these crimes to justice.” The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat sexual violence and protect vulnerable individuals within communities like Stirling.
