A man named Scott Green, aged 29, who is currently detained at HMP Perth, has been found guilty of a series of heinous crimes spanning several years and multiple locations, including Dundee and Fife. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of sexual and physical abuse inflicted upon four victims, whose identities remain protected for legal reasons.

Green’s campaign of terror began in 2013 and continued until 2021, during which he targeted different individuals in various settings. The High Court in Edinburgh heard detailed accounts of his brutal actions, which included both sexual assault and violent physical attacks. One particularly disturbing incident involved Green forcing a female victim to stand naked inside a cupboard before sexually assaulting her. He also subjected her to degrading acts, such as forcing her to pretend to be a dog and attempting to make her drink water from a toilet bowl. The court was told that Green’s violence extended to strangulation, which put the victim’s life at serious risk.

In another case, Green assaulted a woman by striking her head against a door frame and then grabbing her by the neck, restricting her breathing. He continued his assault by repeatedly punching her and spitting on her face, actions that left her in a state of panic and physical distress. The court heard her testimony, with the 34-year-old woman describing her ordeal: “I was punched. I was grabbed. I had a panic attack. I couldn’t breathe. There was blood coming from my throat and my nose.”

Green’s violence was not limited to women. He also attacked men, with one victim recounting how Green punched him repeatedly on the head and strangled him during a terrifying assault. Another male victim was also subjected to a similarly violent attack, further illustrating Green’s pattern of brutality.

One of the most disturbing episodes involved Green attempting to force a woman to drink water from a toilet at a residence in Dundee. Prior to this, he forced her to stand naked in a cupboard and sexually assaulted her. During the trial, evidence was presented that Green also kicked her pet dog, adding to the list of his disturbing behaviors.

Green denied all allegations of wrongdoing throughout the trial. However, the jury found him guilty on 14 charges, which included sexual assaults, physical violence, breach of the peace, drug possession, and breach of bail conditions. The conviction was based on substantial evidence collected by police after an investigation was launched into his activities. Detectives traced his whereabouts and gathered enough proof to bring him before the court.

The court heard that Green’s initial victim was a man encountered at Townhill Loch in Dunfermline, where he repeatedly punched the man, threatened to kill him, and ultimately strangled him, putting his life in danger. The investigation revealed that Green’s violent behavior extended to multiple victims over several years, highlighting a pattern of severe criminal conduct.

During the proceedings, Green’s legal representative, Tony Lenehan KC, requested a background report before sentencing, citing Green’s previous prison sentence and the need to assess the risk he posed. The judge, Tom Hughes, agreed to postpone sentencing and remanded Green in custody. He expressed serious concern over the nature of Green’s offenses and acknowledged the bravery of the victims who testified in court. Judge Hughes emphasized the importance of their testimony, stating, “They came to this court to give evidence in difficult circumstances. I hope they will take some comfort that they have been believed and that they can begin to move past this.”

Green’s sentencing has been scheduled for January 11, 2023, at the High Court in Glasgow, where the full extent of his crimes will be addressed. The case has drawn significant attention due to the severity of the offenses and the impact on the victims, who have shown remarkable courage in coming forward.
