ABERDEEN MAN JAILED FOR SINISTER STALKING CAMPAIGN
Scott Emslie, a 30-year-old man from Holburn Street, Aberdeen, was convicted of a campaign of psychological abuse and stalking against Catherine Tiphanie. The court heard how Emslie had already been under an 18-month court order to stay away from her but waited for it to expire before continuing his harassment.
Emslie subjected Ms Tiphanie to months-long torment, including spray-painting her car with offensive words such as 'Slag' and 'c***', following her to her workplace and supermarket, and making threatening and abusive comments.
He also contacted her via text and email, demanding money and making disturbing references to her family.
CCTV footage confirmed his involvement in vandalising her car and following her in public.
Emslie pleaded guilty to one charge of stalking committed between February 24 and July 14, 2022.
The sheriff sentenced him to 30 months in prison with an additional 12-month supervised release order, as well as an eight-year non-harassment order.
Ms Tiphanie expressed relief at the sentence and advised other victims to document everything and seek legal protection.
