IPSWICH MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL MURDER OF EX-PARTNER
A man named Scott Ellis, who was diagnosed with a personality disorder believed to impair his impulse control, was convicted of murdering his former girlfriend, Jane Bartholomew, at her residence located in Martlesham Heath.Court records indicated that Ellis had purchased a 'killing kit' consisting of items like a hammer, spade, ropes, and plastic bags.
On the day of the murder, he entered her house while she was out with their children and attacked her with a hammer, delivering 20 strikes before her body was discovered by their daughter.
The court also heard that Ellis had previously expressed to friends an intention to kill her.
Prosecutors stated that the crime was motivated by emotions of rejection and jealousy, as the relationship had ended shortly before the attack.
Ellis, aged 42, was sentenced to serve a minimum of 22 years in prison for the murder that occurred in June 2014.
The evidence included his discussions with friends about wanting to kill her and his purchase of weapons used in the killing.
The incident was described as a tragic outcome stemming from a troubled relationship, with Ellis acting out after Ms.
Bartholomew decided to move on.
