A man with a background as a primary school teacher and scout leader has been convicted and sentenced to prison after engaging in a sexual conversation with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.
Samuel Robinson, aged 27, initiated contact with the decoy via social media platforms between April 7 and April 11, 2023.
The person behind the account was an online child protection activist operating a decoy profile.
Despite being repeatedly told that she was 13, Robinson continued to partake in a sexual dialogue.
Police arrested Robinson after the activist group visited his residence on the evening of April 11.
Authorities seized his electronic devices, and an analysis of his Snapchat account revealed that he had also communicated inappropriately with a 15-year-old girl from May 2021 to June 2022.
The messages exchanged were sexual in nature, and Robinson offered to send explicit images of himself.
Robinson, of Butt Lane, Milton, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday (October 2), where he was sentenced to two years and ten months of imprisonment.
He pleaded guilty to charges including engaging in sexual communication with a child, attempting to do so, and attempting to induce a girl to participate in sexual activities.
