Samuel Kelham, aged 37, was convicted of brutally attacking his ex-partner outside her home on her birthday. The attack, captured on CCTV played at Nottingham Crown Court, showed Kelham repeatedly kicking the young mother in the face and body as she cowered on the ground.
Following the assault, Kelham bizarrely sent her a message to apologise.
The victim suffered severe injuries, including a shattered eye socket and a fractured jaw that required a metal plate insertion.
Medical experts warned that an operation could cause permanent damage to her vision.
The woman expressed her fear that upon release from prison, Kelham might kill her using a weapon.
Kelham, of Cherry Tree Close, Brinsley, fled the scene but was later caught after causing damage to a police vehicle.
He pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and criminal damage.
The court sentenced him to 17 years in prison, comprising 12 years custody and a five-year extended licence for dangerousness, making him ineligible for parole until two-thirds of the term is served.
Additionally, a lifetime restraining order was imposed to prohibit contact with the victim.
The judge noted Kelham’s history of violence and mistreatment of female partners, highlighting an escalation of his offences and labeling him a misogynist driven by alcohol and cocaine.
