Treuddyn Child Sexual Abuser
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Treuddyn and the wider Flintshire area, Samuel Ellis, a 36-year-old resident of Ffordd yr Odyn in Treuddyn, faced serious allegations related to the possession of indecent images of children. The incident came to light in November 2020 when police executed a search warrant at his home, leading to a series of disturbing discoveries and a subsequent court appearance in Mold.

According to court reports, the police arrived at Ellis's residence early in the morning of May 19, 2020, executing a warrant as part of an investigation into the possession of illegal images. When officers approached him on his driveway, Ellis was asked to hand over his mobile phone. His reaction was described as one of panic, which raised suspicions among the officers. Despite his apparent distress, Ellis claimed he could not locate his phone when asked to produce it.

As the police continued their search inside his home, Ellis was taken into custody. The officers persisted in their efforts to find the device, which was only recovered after they informed him that he would be strip-searched. During this process, Ellis was found to have hidden the phone in his crotch area. Upon examination, the phone was found to be wet, suggesting that he had used the toilet at some point during the search, possibly attempting to damage or hide evidence. Ellis later claimed that he had simply forgotten he was carrying the device and admitted to viewing indecent images through an app on his phone.

Further investigation revealed a disturbing collection of images stored on the device. Police found a total of 25 Category A images, 11 Category B images, and 22 Category C images, all depicting children aged between three and twelve years old. In addition to these, 19 prohibited images were also discovered on the device. The nature of these images and the ages of the children involved have caused significant concern among law enforcement and the community alike.

During the court proceedings, Judge Niclas Parry addressed the severity of the case, emphasizing the gravity of possessing and viewing such material. He stated, β€œThis is a worrying case β€” not only have indecent images of sexual abuse of extremely young children been viewed and looked for, they include moving images. The use by you of the internet has included extremely concerning comments regarding what was certainly your thoughts if not your intended actions regarding the abuse of children.”

Judge Parry also noted that Ellis appeared to have attempted to destroy evidence, which he described as a serious aggravating factor. Despite acknowledging that Ellis is a hardworking man and that mental health issues may have played a role in his behavior, the judge made it clear that the offenses were deeply troubling.

As a result, Samuel Ellis was sentenced to eight months in prison, though this sentence was suspended for a period of one year. He was also ordered to complete 60 days of rehabilitation activities and pay costs amounting to Β£340. Additionally, Ellis was placed under a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his activities and access to certain online content, in an effort to prevent any future offenses.

This case underscores the ongoing concerns surrounding the possession and distribution of indecent images of children, and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat such crimes in communities like Treuddyn and across Flintshire.
