SAMUEL ALEXANDER FROM SPEEN JAILED FOR REVENGE PORN AND BLACKMAIL IN AMERSHAM
In July 2015, Samuel Alexander, a primary school teacher from Speen, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being convicted of posting revenge porn on Twitter and engaging in a series of disturbing criminal acts involving a young girl. The court heard that Alexander, aged 24 at the time, had a troubling and prolonged obsession with the victim, which spanned over five years, beginning when she was just 15 years old.According to the proceedings at Amersham Crown Court, Alexander had previously attempted to invade the girl’s privacy by trying to observe her undressing through a keyhole on multiple occasions. He also engaged in inappropriate physical contact by feeling her breasts over her clothing, actions that demonstrated his unhealthy fixation. The court was told that Alexander’s obsession escalated when he discovered explicit images of the girl on her laptop, which she had taken for her boyfriend and never intended to share publicly.
Prosecutor Andrew Morgan explained that Alexander managed to locate a series of explicit images of the girl, aged around 17, which she had taken privately. These images were not meant for public viewing but were personal and intended solely for her partner. Instead of respecting her privacy, Alexander sought to exploit these images to coerce her into providing more photographs and videos of a sexual nature. His actions constituted a clear threat of exposure, which he used to manipulate her.
Further into his misconduct, Alexander found additional images and a video on the girl’s iPad, which he then stole for his own use. He continued to demand more images from her, threatening to release them publicly if she refused. In response, the girl sent him photographs and even paid him £150, believing that compliance would stop his demands. However, the harassment persisted.
Approximately a year later, when the girl did not comply with his latest threats, Alexander took a more aggressive step by hacking into her Twitter account. He then posted a sexually explicit image of her online, causing further distress and fear. The girl reported the incident to the police, leading to Alexander’s arrest.
Prior to these events, Alexander had already pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of sexual assault, two counts of blackmail, attempted voyeurism, and distributing an indecent image of a child. His criminal behavior was thoroughly documented and considered by the court during sentencing.
Judge Karen Holt sentenced Alexander to a total of 18 months in prison. She also ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for the next seven years and prohibited him from contacting the victim for two years. In her remarks, Judge Holt emphasized the severity of Alexander’s obsession and the malicious nature of his conduct. She described his actions as a course of conduct that was both extremely unpleasant and deeply worrying, highlighting that the victim still feels under threat from his behavior.
Judge Holt stated, “It’s quite clear to me you developed an extremely unhealthy obsession with your victim. There was a course of conduct that culminated in these criminal offences. Your behaviour, regrettably, developed. You found some digital images she had taken — as she was perfectly entitled to do so, them being private images between her and her partner. They were of an explicit nature. You stole those images, then started a course of conduct which was extremely unpleasant and extremely worrying.”
She further added, “She still felt under threat of revelation. The impact of your behaviour is still on her.” Samuel Alexander’s actions have left a lasting impact on his victim, and his sentencing reflects the seriousness with which the court views such violations of privacy and trust.
