SAMIRUL CHOUDHURY SENTENCED IN MILNROW FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND DRUG DEALING
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Milnrow, Samirul Choudhury, aged 30, has been formally sentenced to a lengthy prison term of seven years and two months for a series of heinous child sex offences. The sentencing took place at Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday, 17 February, marking a decisive step in the pursuit of justice for the victims involved.Choudhury’s criminal history is extensive, with police having previously apprehended him in 2017 during an investigation into drug trafficking activities. During that operation, officers stopped a vehicle driven by Choudhury and discovered a kilogram of Class A drugs, which led to his arrest. The subsequent legal proceedings culminated in December 2018, when he was sentenced to four years in prison for possession of a controlled substance with intent to supply.
The investigation into Choudhury’s activities uncovered disturbing evidence linking him to child exploitation. Authorities found keys in his possession that unlocked a secure metal cabinet in his bedroom. Inside, officers discovered a collection of ten child-sized bras and a USB stick. Digital forensic analysis revealed that both the USB device and Choudhury’s mobile phone contained indecent images of young girls, some believed to be as young as seven years old. Additionally, videos depicting voyeuristic acts were recovered, including footage filmed through a hole in a bathroom wall using a camera cable.
Further forensic examination identified Choudhury’s fingerprint on a still image of a hand extracted from one of the high-definition videos downloaded from his phone. This evidence played a crucial role in establishing his involvement in the offences. Choudhury was questioned while in prison custody and subsequently faced formal charges. During his trial, he admitted guilt on the first day to multiple serious charges, including sexual assault by penetration of a child under 13, sexual assault of a child under 13, and voyeurism.
Following his conviction, Choudhury will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. This order will prohibit him from having unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 and will restrict his ability to delete his internet browsing history. It also mandates that he allows police access to any electronic devices capable of connecting to the internet, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to prevent further harm. The case has underscored the importance of vigilance and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to protect vulnerable children from exploitation and abuse in the Milnrow area.
