KNARESBOROUGH WOMAN SENTENCED FOR STABBING EX-BOYFRIEND IN UNPROVOKED ATTACK
A woman has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for stabbing her ex-boyfriend with a kitchen knife in an unprovoked assault.
Samantha Marie Shutt, a 42-year-old resident of Stockwell Avenue, Knaresborough, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent at York Crown Court and received a sentence of 32 months on a Thursday.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m.
on Sunday, March 21, when the victim, Simon Richard Foster, aged 40 from Harrogate, visited his estranged girlfriend's house in Knaresborough.
The court was told that Shutt opened the door and stabbed Mr.
Foster twice in the left side of his chest.
He was treated at Harrogate District Hospital for puncture wounds and discharged the following day.
Shutt was arrested shortly thereafter and charged the same day.
Detective Constable Dawn Hyde, the lead officer, stated that 'This was a completely unprovoked domestic attack which could easily have proved fatal.' She added that the victim was satisfied with the court's decision and emphasized North Yorkshire Police's commitment to treating domestic violence reports seriously and supporting victims.
