MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING AND STALKING HIS EX-PARTNER
A resident of Swansea has received a prison sentence after engaging in stalking and assault against his former partner.
Twenty-year-old Saman Ismail, from the Sandfields area, assaulted his ex-partner after their relationship ended, having taken her phone and examined her messages.
The attack involved multiple slaps, headbutts, hair pulling, water pouring, and a kick to her chest.
After the assault, Ismail continued his harassment, following her, visiting her workplace, repeatedly calling her on the phone, and creating fake social media accounts to contact her.
As a result of the assaults, the victim sustained a black eye along with numerous bruises on her face and body.
In January of the previous year, Ismail entered a plea of not guilty to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and stalking causing significant alarm or distress.
However, in October, he was convicted on both charges after a trial.
Additionally, he was convicted of Section 18 wounding with intent following an incident in September 2024 where he attacked a man he believed to be involved romantically with his ex-partner on Wind Street.
The court sentenced Ismail to a total of six years in a young offenders' institution.
