YORKSHIRE HOLIDAY PARK CHEF RYAN YATES JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF SLEEPING TEENAGER
A 15-year-old girl woke up to find that she was being sexually assaulted by Ryan Yates, a chef at a Yorkshire holiday park. The girl was found naked in her room at Skipsea Sands Caravan Park, where Yates was working, and he was on top of her before he put his hands around her neck.
Despite initially denying entering her room, claiming she was lying out of malice after calling her a "piece of s***," Yates later admitted to performing sex acts on a child on October 31, 2018, as reported by Hull Daily Mail.
The court proceedings revealed that the victim had been drinking at a Halloween party at the park, after which she went to bed drunk.
She later woke up to find Yates penetrating her with his fingers, and when she tried to speak with him, he was removing his trousers, giving the impression he was already in bed.
The police responded within half an hour and collected forensic evidence.
Yates called the police the next morning, claiming the allegations were false and made out of malice.
His DNA was found on the victim.
The girl described feeling sick, disgusted, and upset, stating "You have no right to do this to me, no right to touch you.
I was asleep and drunk and a child." She also said, "He made me have physical pain afterward, I was sore and everything hurt.
I actually feel heartache when I think about that when he did, and I don't think I will ever get over it." The court noted that Yates had no previous convictions but had shown a good work ethic.
Judge Sophie McKone sentenced him to three years and nine months in prison, commenting that Yates, under the influence of alcohol, entered her room where she had passed out and assaulted her, causing pain and soreness, and that she now finds it difficult to trust people.
