RYAN ROSTRON SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND THREATS IN SUTTERTON AND CAMBRIDGE

In a series of disturbing criminal cases, Ryan John Rostron, aged 28, of Monarchs Road in Sutterton, was recently sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of multiple serious offenses. The sentencing took place at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday, July 1, following a detailed investigation into his crimes that spanned several years and involved multiple victims.

Rostron's criminal activities include the heinous act of rape, along with threats to cause criminal damage and threats to kill. The court heard that Rostron's offenses date back to 2011, when he raped a woman and made explicit threats to burn her car and to kill her. These threats and acts of violence added a layer of danger and intimidation to his crimes, which were thoroughly examined during the trial.

One of the most troubling aspects of Rostron's case is the fact that his victim came forward after hearing about other similar offenses committed by him. The court was informed that Rostron's assault on this particular woman involved coercive threats, which underscored the severity of his actions and his willingness to use intimidation to silence victims.

In addition to Rostron's case, the week saw the sentencing of other sex offenders. Adam Bates, 32, of Houghton Road in St Ives, was sentenced to 14 years in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on Wednesday, July 6. Bates was convicted of two counts of rape, with one of his victims being targeted during a night out in St Ives. The first assault occurred in November 2015 when Bates met the woman at a local pub. He lured her into his car under the pretense of offering her shelter from the rain while she was smoking a cigarette, and then proceeded to rape her.

The second assault involving Bates took place at Hartford Marina in Huntingdon in March 2014, where he attacked another victim on his boat. This victim came forward after hearing about Bates’ other offense, which prompted the authorities to investigate further.

Another individual, Benjamin Morris, 32, of Bourne Road in Cambridge, was sentenced to 16 years at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, July 4. Morris was convicted of sexually assaulting two boys in Cambridge and a girl in the United States. The investigation revealed that Morris traveled to Vermont to visit friends, during which he befriended a teenage girl and subsequently sexually assaulted her. The case was particularly complex because Morris was not extradited by U.S. authorities, prompting the Cambridgeshire police to pursue the case locally.

During the course of the investigation into the offenses committed against the girl, officers identified two additional victims—boys from Cambridge—who had also been subjected to sexual assault by Morris. The case highlights the extensive efforts of law enforcement to bring these offenders to justice and protect vulnerable victims from further harm.
