EX-NORTH YORKSHIRE POLICE VOLUNTEER CAUGHT IN CHILD EXPLOITATION CASE
A former special constable with North Yorkshire Police has pleaded guilty to multiple child sex offences.
Ryan McCaffrey, aged 33, admitted to six counts of making indecent images of children, one count of possession of a prohibited image, and one count of possessing extreme pornography.
He was given a 12-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years.
The offences were committed between June 2018 and June 2019.
McCaffrey, who was also a self-employed photographer and had worked with North Yorkshire Police, was sentenced at York Crown Court.
In addition to his jail term, he was made subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order and a 40-day rehabilitation order.
A police spokesperson stated that McCaffrey had "let down the policing family."
