RYAN LARGE FROM CARNMONEY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN BELFAST COURT
In a case that has shocked the local community of Carnmoney, Ryan Large, a 25-year-old man residing on Fairhill Drive, was brought before Laganside Courts in Belfast on Thursday, February 5.The court heard that Large had pleaded guilty to a series of serious charges related to his inappropriate conduct involving minors.
The charges against Large included causing or inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, deliberately engaging in a sexual act in the presence of a young child, and exposure.
These offences spanned a period from September 1, 2012, to June 18, 2013, and involved disturbing acts that have left a lasting impact on the victims and the community alike.
Additionally, there was an outstanding charge of engaging in a sexual act in the presence of a child aged between 13 and 16 years, which was not dealt with at the time of sentencing.
The court was informed that Large’s guilty plea was entered early, which was taken into consideration during sentencing.
Judge presiding over the case sentenced Large to six months in prison for each of the six charges.
These sentences are to run concurrently, meaning he will serve the maximum of six months in total.
The court also ordered that upon his release, Large will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for a period of five years, restricting his activities and monitoring his conduct to prevent further offences.
Large’s case has garnered significant attention in the local area, highlighting ongoing concerns about safeguarding children and the importance of justice in cases of sexual offences involving minors.
His release in June 2015 marked a new chapter, but the community remains vigilant about the measures in place to protect vulnerable individuals from similar harm in the future.
