CHANCE SIGHTING BROUGHT ANITA ROSE KILLER ROY BARCLAY TO JUSTICE
Roy Barclay is beginning a life sentence after being convicted of killing mother-of-six Anita Rose.The investigation included a chance sighting by an officer which led to his arrest.
Barclay had been on the run for over two years, living rough near the scene of the attack.
He was also living in hidden camps around the area, changing his appearance to evade police.
Evidence against him included DNA on the victim's belongings and CCTV footage.
He was sentenced to serve a minimum of 25 years and was previously jailed in 2015 for a violent assault.
The case involved extensive police searches and reviews of his phone and online activity.
