Weston-super-Mare Rapist
In a case that has shocked the community of Weston-super-Mare, Ross Tilling, aged 44, of Cheshire Avenue in Locking, was brought before Bristol Crown Court to face serious allegations of child sexual abuse and possession of indecent images. The proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of criminal behavior involving multiple young girls, with Tilling admitting to six counts of child rape, three of which involved victims under the age of 13.

During the court session, the presiding judge, William Hart, did not hold back in condemning Tilling’s actions. He described him as an "incorrigible paedophile" and emphasized the severity of his crimes. The judge stated, "You are an incorrigible paedophile. You subjected (the rape complainant) to years of sexual abuse of the most serious kind, treating her as a sexual object for your own pleasure, and now there is a price to pay and it is a heavy one."

The court heard that Tilling’s heinous acts included sexual activity with a young girl, which was reported after the victim confided in a friend. The girl’s account led to a police investigation, during which Tilling was arrested in Wales. Despite being questioned by authorities, he chose to remain silent during the interview.

Further forensic analysis of Tilling’s mobile phone uncovered a disturbing collection of child abuse images. A total of 551 photographs were recovered, with many classified as being in the highest category of concern, indicating their extreme nature. Tilling also admitted to taking indecent images of the girl he raped, as well as engaging in sexual activity with another young girl and capturing indecent images of her and a third child.

In light of his admissions and the evidence presented, Judge Hart sentenced Tilling to a total of 16 years in prison. This sentence comprises 15 years of custody followed by an additional year on extended licence. Additionally, Tilling was subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to prevent any future offending and protect potential victims.

The judge’s final words to Tilling underscored the gravity of his crimes, highlighting the profound impact on the victims and the community’s need for justice. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in safeguarding vulnerable children.
