ABERDEEN MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTS ON PARTNER OVER INFIDELITY CLAIMS
Ross Patchett was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment for assaulting his partner on two occasions.The incident on January 16 involved witnesses who saw him kicking the woman and wrapping his hands around her neck, with court orders already in place to keep him away from her.
Court evidence revealed the woman was heard struggling to breathe during the assault, and the attack was filmed by a witness.
Despite this, Patchett denied the assaults to police.
The second incident occurred on May 7 in a property when he became angry about infidelity allegations, threw his partner to the ground, and pushed her friend who attempted to intervene.
Patchett accepted that he did put his hands around her neck and also pushed her friend, causing her to fall.
The court recognized the seriousness of his actions, and Sheriff Phillip Mann stated custody was the only suitable option, additionally imposing a two-year non-harassment order preventing Patchett from contacting his former partner.
The total sentence was backdated to May 8 after accounting for time served on remand.
