RORY PATTISON FROM MOW COP FLEEING TO BALI SKIPS CHILD ABUSE IMAGES TRIAL AND IS NOW JAILED
In a case that has drawn significant attention, Rory Pattison, a 43-year-old resident of Mow Cop, found himself at the center of a serious criminal investigation involving child exploitation images. The charges against him included four counts of creating and possessing indecent images of children, a grave offense that prompted legal proceedings scheduled for December 2018.However, Pattison chose to evade justice by fleeing the United Kingdom and traveling to Bali, Indonesia, before his trial could take place. His decision to abscond led to a conviction in his absence, with a jury finding him guilty of the charges based on evidence presented during the trial.
Following his return to the UK, authorities swiftly apprehended Pattison and brought him before Liverpool Crown Court. His arrest was the culmination of a police investigation that began in December 2016, when Cheshire Police executed a raid on his residence on Mow Lane, Mow Cop. During the raid, Pattison’s wife opened the door, and officers seized his electronic devices, including a laptop, a computer tower, and a hard drive, as part of their investigation.
At the time of his arrest, Pattison was suspected of both creating and possessing indecent images of children. He denied any involvement in searching for or viewing such material, claiming that his computer searches were limited to adult pornography. Prosecutor Simon Mills told the court that Pattison admitted to using his computers to look for adult content, explaining that in the past, indecent images of children had appeared on his screens while searching for other material.
Nevertheless, forensic analysis of his devices painted a different picture. Experts uncovered search terms such as ‘seven-year-olds’ and ‘rope bondage,’ and found that Pattison had accessed websites notorious for hosting child sexual abuse images. These findings led to his conviction in his absence, with the jury determining that he had created a total of 185 indecent images across various categories of severity, as well as possessing such images.
Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, indicated that Pattison would face a community penalty when sentenced next month. In the meantime, he has been remanded in custody. Pattison’s legal situation remains ongoing, with a court hearing scheduled for Wednesday, October 3, where he will learn the full extent of his sentence and the consequences of his actions.
