ABERDEEN MAN IN THREAT TO ‘BLOW UP’ BUILDINGS AND KILL EX PARTNER
An Aberdeen man threatened to kill his former partner and blow up a building to murder her family, a court has heard.Ronan Wallace appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, where he admitted to a single charge of sending threatening text messages to his ex on August 10 this year.
The court was told that the two had been in a 10-year relationship before separating weeks prior to the incident.
Wallace is scheduled for sentencing in October.
The court heard from fiscal depute Maliya Ngalam that the woman had moved to her mother’s home after the relationship breakdown.
Around 12:30 am, she noticed messages from Wallace, including one that stated: “That’s what you’ve always wanted from the start.” He continued texting her: “Do you think you can outdo me?” and explicitly threatened: “I will blow that block up and believe me I’ll kill every member of that family.
F*** you, I’m blowing this place up.” Ms Ngalam described the messages as alarming and concerning, prompting her to contact the police.
Wallace’s legal representative, Erin Buchanan, requested the court to defer the sentence until further reports could be obtained regarding Wallace’s personal circumstances.
She mentioned that Wallace, aged 40 and residing at May Baird Park, had engaged with external support services and welcomed additional help, indicating his awareness of the issues he faces.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin scheduled the case for review on October 8 and continued Wallace’s bail.
The court proceedings included images of Wallace attending court and coverage of the incident in the context of his personal background.
