PAULA POOLTON: NEW AFFAIR CLAIMS IN 12-YEAR-OLD MURDER CASE - BBC NEWS
Roger Kearney was jailed for life in 2010 after Paula Poolton, 40, was found stabbed to death in the boot of her car in Swanwick, Hampshire, in 2008.
He has always maintained his innocence.
The charity Inside Justice has appealed for new information following claims on social media that the victim had been having an affair with another man.
Kearney's daughter Louisa Wiggington emphasized her father's caring nature, stating, "My Dad is a caring person.
He's a first-aider, he was a safety steward, he was a union rep - not a callous murderer.” The case was revisited in a 2016 BBC documentary, which revealed that police forensic exhibits had been lost, destroyed, or contaminated after his unsuccessful appeal, including a blood handprint on a carrier bag that could now be analyzed with DNA advances.
The Hampshire Constabulary said they had thoroughly investigated contacts and movements, and the Court of Appeal was satisfied all reasonable lines of enquiry had been followed.
