ROGER COOK OF EDEN VALLEY ADMITS TO INDECENT ASSAULTS ON CHILD IN 2017

In September 2017, Roger David Cook, age 50, from Trotternish Avenue, Staffin, Isle of Skye, was involved in a court case at Carlisle Crown Court concerning charges of indecent assault involving a minor.

Cook initially faced twelve charges alleging that he indecently assaulted a child under 16, with the incidents taking place in the Eden Valley area over a span of two years.

During the trial, jurors heard that Cook repeatedly molested the young victim and used threats of violence to prevent disclosure, effectively buying their silence.

Initially denying all charges, Cook changed his plea during proceedings and admitted to three of the charges of indecent assault occurring in the Appleby area.

At the judge's direction, Judge Tony Lancaster, the jury returned verdicts of not guilty on nine other charges after the prosecution announced there would be no evidence presented for those counts.

The case was adjourned until October 20 for sentencing, during which background reports will be considered.

Cook was granted conditional bail and was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register.

The judge warned him that he could face imprisonment for his crimes.
