DRONFIELD: MAN, 76, JAILED FOR SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON YOUNG GIRL
A 76-year-old man from Dronfield Woodhouse has been handed a 14-year prison term after being found guilty of multiple grave sexual offenses committed against a young girl who was vulnerable earlier this year.Roger Anderson faced charges including 10 counts of touching a child under 13 for sexual gratification and two counts of sexual assault involving penetration.
He was also convicted of engaging in sexual communication with a minor and harassment without intent.
During an eight-day trial at Derby Crown Court, police reports indicate that the presiding judge described Anderson as a "very dangerous man." Anderson chose not to attend his sentencing hearing.
Detective Constable Jodi Wood, who led the investigation, commented that "The crimes committed by Roger Anderson are beyond comprehension." The court's decision was influenced by an abundance of compelling evidence, resulting in a sentence that includes a "special custodial sentence" because of the threat Anderson poses to public safety.
