ROBIN CORSER FROM LANGFORD ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SIGNING COURT CONTRACT IN BRISTOL

In August 2022, a serious incident involving Robin Corser, a known sex offender from Langford, Bristol, came to light during a court hearing at Bristol Crown Court.

Corser, aged 73 and residing on Taverner Close in Inns Court, was brought before the court to face charges related to his breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which had been put in place to prevent him from reoffending.

The case revealed that Corser had continued to contact young boys despite the restrictions imposed by the SHPO.

During the proceedings, it was disclosed that in October of the previous year, authorities conducted a check on Corser and discovered he possessed two mobile phones.

Further investigation uncovered Facebook messages he had sent, which included simple greetings such as “hello” and “good morning” to a 15-year-old boy in Middlesbrough.

The boy had not initiated contact, raising concerns about Corser’s inappropriate communication.

Additionally, the authorities found a deleted video on Corser’s devices showing a 14-year-old boy removing his top in a provocative manner.

When questioned by the police, Corser claimed he could not recall messaging the boy in Middlesbrough and suggested that perhaps someone else had sent him the video, which he then deleted.

This denial added to the suspicion surrounding his activities.

The court also heard that Corser had previously breached his SHPO by leaving sweets for a paperboy, which was considered a violation of the restrictions.

He had also sent text messages to the boy, inviting him to his home, actions that further demonstrated his disregard for the court’s orders.

During the hearing, Corser pleaded guilty to breaching the SHPO.

Judge Mark Horton decided to defer sentencing until February 24 of the following year, giving Corser a chance to demonstrate compliance.

The judge made it clear that if Corser adhered to the court’s instructions, he could avoid immediate imprisonment.

As part of the court’s conditions, Corser was required to sign a contract promising not to reoffend, to be supervised for six months, and to attend regular meetings.

The contract also mandated that he observe a six-month curfew and refrain from using the internet without supervision.

Prosecutor Nicola Wood emphasized the seriousness of Corser’s breaches, highlighting the potential danger posed by his continued contact with minors.

The case underscores the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in monitoring and managing convicted sex offenders, especially those who attempt to circumvent restrictions through digital means.

The court’s decision to give Corser a last chance reflects a cautious approach, balancing the risk of incarceration with the possibility of rehabilitation if he complies with the court’s conditions.
