Peterborough Sexual Abuser
A paedophile has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after sexually abusing a girl over a period of nearly five years. Robert Wiles, aged 50, committed the sexual offences in Peterborough between December 2004 and September 2009. The case also involved a boy being mistreated by Wiles and his ex-partner, Pauline Carr, who is 72 years old. Det Con Annette Renwick praised the victims for their courage in coming forward and described their bravery as "admirable." Wiles was first reported by the female victim in December 2018. On 25 March, Wiles from Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, was convicted of multiple charges, including two counts of assaulting a child by touching, three counts of assaulting a child by penetration, five counts of raping a child, and one count of ill-treatment of a child, before being sentenced. Carr, from Orton Malborne, Peterborough, was sentenced to two years and three months for ill-treatment of a child. Det Con Renwick emphasized the disgraceful exploitation of a vulnerable child by Wiles and condemned Carr's despicable behavior, which caused severe trauma. She stated, "Robert Wiles shamefully took advantage of a vulnerable child to sexually abuse her so I am delighted he is behind bars for many years to come." She also highlighted the bravery of the victims and expressed hope that the sentences would offer some closure to them and their families.
