ABERDEEN MAN WHO LEFT DOGS IN FAECES AND URINE-COATED ROOM BANNED FROM KEEPING PETS
An Aberdeen man has been banned from owning pets for five years after leaving three dogs "going ballistic" in a room with "overwhelming" smell of urine and faeces.Robert Simpson Morrison appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Tuesday, September 30, where he was fined £1,000 and prohibited from keeping or owning animals for half a decade for failing to provide suitable environment or adequate nutrition to his three dogs.
After police and Scottish SPCA received a call about abandoned dogs, an inspector described arriving at the property and hearing the dogs whine, bark, and scratch inside.
The inspector noted a strong smell of ammonia and faeces emanating from the property.
The environment was described as neglectful, with the dogs found in distressed states: Luna, a female Staffordshire Bull Terrier, was kept in a small crate with minimal bedding, no food, and a dirty water bowl; two other dogs, Loco and Misty—a Mastiff/Bulldog male and a Staffordshire Terrier female—were trapped in another room, acting in a manic way.
Upon inspection, the floors were coated in faeces and urine, and the condition of the animals was poor.
Luna appeared severely distressed and timid, while Loco and Misty were very distressed and acting manic.
All three dogs were seized and rehomed, and are reportedly doing well now.
The Scottish SPCA stated they are pleased with the outcome, and reminded the public that concerns about animal welfare can be reported confidentially by calling 03000 999 999.
