ROBERT NORMAN AND DARREN LE CORRE SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE IN JEESY
In a case that has shocked the community of Jeesey, two men have been sentenced in connection with a disturbing series of historical sexual offences involving a young girl. The proceedings took place at Jersey's Royal Court, where the gravity of the crimes was laid bare for the court and the public alike.Robert Norman, aged 33, was found guilty of multiple counts of sexual misconduct committed over several years. The offences occurred when Norman was between the ages of 13 and 17, targeting a girl who was between 10 and 13 years old at the time. The court heard that Norman's crimes included nine counts of indecent assault, two counts of procuring an act of gross indecency, and two additional sexual offences. The severity and repeated nature of these acts painted a disturbing picture of abuse that left a lasting impact on the victim.
Alongside Norman, Darron Le Corre, aged 32, was also brought before the court. Le Corre received a sentence of 12 months probation after being convicted of three counts of historical indecent assault. These assaults were committed against the same young girl, who was between 10 and 11 years old at the time, while Le Corre was aged between 12 and a half and 13. In addition to these offences, Le Corre was also bound over for possessing indecent photographs of a girl under the age of 14, further compounding the seriousness of his actions.
Judge Sir Christopher Pitchers did not hold back in his remarks, describing Norman’s actions as “an appalling series of regular sexual abuse,” emphasizing the profound and damaging consequences inflicted upon the victim. The judge also acknowledged Le Corre’s lesser involvement but noted that Le Corre had shown remorse by pleading guilty, a decision that many others might have tried to avoid. The judge highlighted that Le Corre had been truthful during his testimony, which was a significant factor in the court’s proceedings.
Acting Detective Inspector Manny De Freitas issued a statement reassuring the public and victims alike. He emphasized that support services are available to those affected by such crimes, and victims should feel encouraged to seek help. The police are committed to guiding victims through every stage of the criminal justice process, ensuring they receive the assistance they need.
As part of their sentences, Norman will be registered as a sex offender for six years, while Le Corre’s registration will last for two years. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat sexual abuse and protect vulnerable individuals within the community of Jeesey.
