2011: MAN JAILED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER IN KIMBOLTON, NEAR LEOMINSTER
A Herefordshire man who attempted to murder his ex-partner has been jailed for 20 years.Robert Mill was sentenced today at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
The 48-year-old attacked his ex-partner, Louise Duggan, on the driveway of her home in Kimbolton, near Leominster, stabbing her in the face and hand with kitchen knife.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Mill, of Grantsfield Farm, Kimbolton, will also be placed on licence for an extended period of 15 years after release.
Mill targeted Miss Duggan as she left for work at 7am on January 24, hiding in an alleyway before attacking her from behind.
She was knocked to the floor and Mill repeatedly kicked her in the head until a neighbour, disturbed by the noise, banged on a window.
Miss Duggan received a puncture wound to her cheek and lacerations to her tongue, cuts to her fingers and extensive bruising around her face.
She needed specialist treatment and surgery for her injuries at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.
Mill handed himself in at Leominster Police Station later that day.
He pleaded not guilty when the case reached court but on October 27 was found guilty on all charges by a jury at Worcester Crown Court.
