COCKENZIE MAN ELECTRONICALLY TAGGED AFTER BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS PARTNER
A COCKENZIE man has been ordered to attend appointments with a domestic abuse organisation after he admitted behaving aggressively towards his partner.Robert McKinney was arrested by police after he acted in a threatening or abusive manner towards the woman by shouting and swearing at her on March 15.
Police were notified and, when officers attended, McKinney went on to assault PC Allan Herbert by striking him to the head to his injury.
The 44-year-old also uttered threats of violence towards the constables during the incident at his home on the village’s Whin Park.
McKinney pleaded guilty to the three offences during an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in September and returned to the court for sentencing last Wednesday.
Sheriff Graeme Watson placed McKinney on a community payback order with a 12-month supervision element attached.
McKinney was also given a restriction of liberty order where he will have to wear an electronic tag on his ankle and stay within his home between 7pm and 7am each night.
Sheriff Watson also issued a conduct requirement where the offender is compelled to attend sessions with domestic abuse organisation the Caledonian Men’s Programme when required to do so.
