ROBERT MCELHILL'S HORRIFIC ANIMAL ABUSE IN HOLLAND PARK AND GLASGOW REVEALED

Robert McElhill, born on June 6, 1987, has a disturbing history of animal cruelty that spans across different locations, including the affluent district of Holland Park in London and later in Cumbernauld, Glasgow. His involvement in the mistreatment of animals has garnered significant attention from authorities and animal welfare organizations alike.

McElhill was previously convicted in 2015 for his role as a co-owner of the Notting Hill Guest House situated on Holland Park Avenue, London W11 3QZ. More recently, in 2018, he moved to Millcroft Road in Cumbernauld, Glasgow, where he continued his troubling activities. It was during his time in Holland Park that McElhill was found to be keeping a staggering number of dogs—33 in total—in deplorable conditions at his guest house. These animals, which included a variety of breeds such as a Great Dane mix, a Chihuahua, a Rottweiler, and a Saluki, also known as an Arabian Greyhound, were subjected to severe neglect.

Authorities discovered the dogs living in squalid, filthy environments. Many of the animals bore scars, indicating past injuries or abuse, and were confined within private living quarters that were in a state of extreme disrepair. The floors of these rooms were covered in feces and urine, and the windows were either boarded up or blacked out, preventing any natural light from entering. The dogs were kept in groups of two to six, with no bedding or proper shelter. One particularly distressing find was an 18-inch-tall Chihuahua locked inside a cage that measured only 19 inches in height, highlighting the inhumane conditions they endured. Two other dogs were barricaded on the stairs, further illustrating the neglect.

In the basement of the property, police uncovered a sandy-colored lurcher who was severely underweight, with her skin stretched tightly over her bones, and seven puppies in poor physical condition. The puppies' coats were matted with feces, and they showed clear signs of inadequate care. The entire scene painted a grim picture of animal suffering, with no access to clean water for the animals.

McElhill operated a rescue organization called Canine99, which purportedly took in dogs that were at risk of being euthanized or were difficult to handle. However, investigations revealed a darker reality: it was alleged that McElhill was euthanizing dogs himself and conducting autopsies on animals that had died while in his care. Several other rescue groups had unwittingly sent dogs to McElhill, unaware of the true conditions at his kennels, which he kept secret from most.

Adding to the disturbing nature of his activities, McElhill maintained a network of female supporters on Facebook, calling themselves 'Rob’s Angels.' This group, which had its own logo, continued to defend him even after the evidence of his animal abuse surfaced. Two women, Jo Weeks and Jo Phillips—who now goes by Romani Scott—were reportedly involved in making jokes about McElhill raping and torturing dogs. Allegations have also been made suggesting that McElhill sexually abused animals, although these claims remain unconfirmed.

Jo Phillips, who was romantically involved with McElhill, has not been publicly linked to any ongoing relationship, and her current status remains unclear. McElhill was convicted on six counts of animal neglect and four counts of 'failing to prevent the causing of unnecessary suffering' to animals. His sentencing included 200 hours of community service, a fine of £2000 in costs, and a ban on owning dogs for ten years, which will expire in January 2025.

As of October 2019, reports indicated that McElhill was living in Sligo, Ireland, and had acquired dogs again. Further disturbing allegations emerged in August 2020, claiming that he continued to sexually abuse animals at his new residence and was allegedly trading access to his animals for sex and money. These allegations, while deeply troubling, have not been officially confirmed, but they add to the ongoing concerns about his conduct and the welfare of animals under his care.
