ABERDEEN HANDYMAN JAILED FOR SECRET HOME CAMERA SPYING ON FAMILY
A 67-year-old handyman named Robert Lawson carried out a disturbing act of voyeurism by secretly installing a spy camera inside an Aberdeen family’s home for a month.During this period, Lawson recorded over 150 videos of the couple and their two children in various states of undress.
His actions were described in court as 'disgusting and deplorable,' and he was branded accordingly.
The victims revealed that they no longer feel safe within their own home, with their trust broken due to Lawson’s betrayal.
The crime was discovered when one victim spotted a small black device taped to her shoe stand, which overlooked the area where she undresses.
Plugging it into their laptop, they found ten videos dating from January 21, 2020, to February 14, 2020, capturing the female members of the family in several undressed situations.
Police later searched Lawson’s residence in Bieldside, where they found electrical tape and an SD card containing 156 covert videos made over a month.
These videos included images of the family in completely naked states, and a deleted video showed Lawson holding and positioning the camera in a bedroom.
Lawson admitted to operating the equipment with the intention of observing others without their consent and took sexual gratification from viewing some of the material.
His defense claimed the camera was bought to catch the family saying negative things about him, citing his personal difficulties at the time.
The court handed Lawson a jail sentence of 28 months and ordered him to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
