ROBERT GRANT OF BRAISHFIELD SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES IN SOUTHAMPTON
In December 2010, a pensioner from Braishfield was sentenced to nine years in prison for a series of historic sexual offences.

During the trial at Southampton Crown Court, Grant pled guilty to two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and one count each of indecency with a child and indecent assault.
Judge Patrick Hooton remarked that he took into consideration that Grant had admitted the offences at the earliest opportunity but noted that his actions had caused "untold anguish".
In mitigation, David Jenkins commented on behalf of Grant, stating that the accused accepted full responsibility and acknowledged that it was entirely his own fault.
