WAKEFIELD MAN SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

A man from Wakefield named Robert Cross has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing a young male victim between the years 2008 and 2011.

Cross, aged 36 and residing on Queens Drive, was convicted of seven child sexual offences during his trial at Leeds Crown Court.

The victim only came forward to report the abuse in 2021, despite police investigation uncovering a Facebook message sent by Cross in 2016 in which he admitted to his actions.

Upon sentencing, Cross will also be on the Sex Offenders Register for life and has been handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
