ROBERT CLARK FROM KIRKBRIDE SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR HISTORIC CHILD RAPE IN CUMBRIA
In a significant case that has drawn considerable attention, Robert Clark, a resident of Kirkbride near Wigton in Cumbria, has been convicted of serious sexual offenses committed against a young girl decades ago.The charges include four counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14, as well as the crime of raping the same girl when she was under 16 years old.
These heinous acts took place over a period spanning from September 26, 1982, to September 21, 1983, a time when the victim was particularly vulnerable and trusting.
Clark, who is now 52 years old, faced a trial at Teesside Crown Court located in Middlesbrough last month.
The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the offenses, which had remained unpunished for many years.
Following the presentation of evidence and testimonies, the jury found Clark guilty on all counts.
The verdict marked a significant moment in the pursuit of justice for the victim, who had endured the trauma in silence for decades.
Subsequently, the court sentenced Robert Clark to a prison term of 13 years, reflecting the gravity of his crimes.
In addition to his incarceration, Clark was ordered to be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from potential future offenses.
The case was prosecuted by the Crown Prosecution Service North East, which collaborated closely with Durham police throughout the investigation process.
Following the sentencing, a spokesperson for CPS North East expressed their satisfaction with the outcome.
They stated, “We are pleased with the sentence passed on Clark.
