JACKSDALE SEX OFFENDER ROBERT BUSTARD SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR ABUSE OF BOYS

In September 2014, a man from Jacksdale, identified as Robert Andrew Bustard, was handed a substantial prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to a series of heinous sexual offenses involving young boys. The 25-year-old, residing on Wagstaff Lane in Jacksdale, appeared before Nottingham Crown Court to face the charges that had been brought against him.

Bustard admitted to committing five separate counts of raping a boy who was under the age of 13. In addition to these grave offenses, he also confessed to two counts of inciting a boy under 16 to engage in sexual activities. The court was informed that Bustard had also been involved in the creation and possession of indecent images of children, a crime that further underscored the severity of his actions. Moreover, he was found to have supplied a Class B drug, adding to the list of his criminal conduct.

Following his guilty pleas, the court sentenced Bustard to 14 years in prison. The judge also ordered that he be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions even after his release. The investigation into Bustard’s activities was led by Detective Sergeant Helen Lambert, who publicly commented on the case. She described Bustard as a “dangerous individual” who specifically targeted young boys, exploiting their innocence in the most egregious ways.

Detective Sergeant Lambert emphasized the gravity of Bustard’s crimes, noting that he had stored numerous indecent images of children on his computer. She acknowledged the bravery of the victims who came forward, recognizing the emotional and psychological toll such experiences can have on young people and their families. The detective highlighted that the custodial sentence was necessary to protect the public, stating that it would remove the risk of harm posed by Bustard for a significant period, thereby safeguarding other children from potential abuse.
