Haxby Child Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Haxby, Robbie Fegan, a health worker with a troubling criminal history, has been formally removed from his professional register following a police investigation that uncovered his possession of indecent images of children.

Fegan, aged 56, who previously worked as a registered operating department practitioner and also served in the Army, resides in The Village, Haxby. His criminal activities came to light after law enforcement officials discovered that he had been downloading and storing numerous illicit images on his personal home computer.

Fegan is currently listed on the sex offenders register, a status he will maintain until November 2025. Despite the gravity of his offenses, he chose not to attend the virtual hearing held by the Health and Care Professionals Tribunal. During the proceedings, it was revealed that his offending spanned over a two-year period, during which police found a significant number of indecent images of children. The tribunal concluded that due to the severity and scale of his misconduct, Fegan's professional license must be revoked, effectively ending his career in healthcare.

In November, Fegan appeared before York Magistrates Court, where he pleaded guilty to two charges related to the creation and possession of indecent images of children. As part of his sentence, he was subjected to a three-year community order, which includes 200 hours of unpaid work and 50 days of rehabilitative activities aimed at addressing his behavior.

The tribunal also heard that Fegan had taken steps to delete more than 1,000 sexual images depicting children aged between six and 17 from his home computer, attempting to conceal his activities.

In a letter addressed to the tribunal, Fegan expressed remorse and claimed that his reputation had been irreparably damaged, stating that he had lost friends as a result of his actions. The case underscores the ongoing concerns about safeguarding and the importance of strict regulation and monitoring of individuals working in sensitive professions, especially when allegations of child exploitation are involved.
