ABERDEEN MAN BRANDED ‘SEXUAL PREDATOR’ HAS SENTENCE SLASHED
An individual named Ricky Taylor has been involved in a sexual misconduct case and has experienced a reduction in his sentence after appealing.Originally branded a “sexual predator” when he appeared before Aberdeen Sheriff Court in May, Taylor was convicted of performing sex acts in front of a woman at a property on Gaitside Drive on multiple occasions last year.
The court initially sentenced him to a supervision order for three years, with restrictions including a nine-month curfew from 7.30pm to 5am, along with 300 hours of unpaid work and participation in a rehabilitation program.
However, Taylor challenged this sentence, and the appellate court has since reduced his curfew to three months and halved his unpaid work requirement to 150 hours.
Despite the reduction, the court decided he should remain under supervision for three years.
His legal team argued that only one of the acts he was found guilty of was supported by a second witness, claiming each incident should have been corroborated separately.
The appellate court agreed that the offences should be considered individually and that the original conviction was limited in scope, leading to the sentence review.
Ricky Taylor, of Heathryfold Circle in Aberdeen, had previously served 15 months in jail for an incident where he assaulted a woman in a secluded area, and in October 2012, he was involved in a disturbing incident where he drove a woman to a remote spot, pinned her down, and struggled with her.
