CAERSWS MAN TOLD HE FACES JAIL FOR IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A man in his 50s has been told he faces prison for having five indecent images of children.Richard Hawkins, 52, and from Caersws, pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child when he appeared at Mold Crown Court on Friday, December 19.
He admitted having three Category A images, the most serious kind, and two others were categorised as B and C respectively.
The court was told that Hawkins has no previous convictions.
His Honour Judge Simon Mills told the defendant: "You've pleaded guilty and that's important.
It means you're entitled a reduction in the sentencing starting point.
The question is whether it's possible to suspend that sentence or not.
People admitting these things is always important but that's no indication to what your sentence will be." The judge ordered a pre-sentence report from the probation service which was requested by Hawkins' barrister Simon Rogers.
"Be honest about what you've done," Judge Mills said.
"Be frank.
In that way a report will be crucial to how this case is dealt with." Hawkins was told that it would be an "own goal" if he didn't attend the pre-sentence report appointment with the probation service.
"You don't get a second chance," the judge added.
Hawkins, of Trefeglwys Road, Caersws, was bailed to return to the same court for sentencing on Tuesday, February 12.
He must register as a sex offender at his nearest police station and was told that the length of time will be decided at next year's sentencing hearing.
