RICHARD HALLARON CAUGHT FILMING GIRLS THROUGH PEEPHOLE IN OAKENSHAW BRADFORD

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Oakenshaw, Bradford, a man named Richard Hallaron, aged 57, was found guilty of secretly filming young girls through a peephole in his home. The incident, which came to light during a court hearing at Leeds Crown Court, revealed that Hallaron, a divorced man, had installed a covert camera to satisfy his sexual urges, targeting two teenage girls who stayed in the house.

According to court proceedings, Hallaron, who resided on Cleckheaton Road in Oakenshaw, had drilled a small peephole connecting his bedroom to the room where the teenage girls were staying. To conceal his illicit activity, he cleverly hid the spy camera behind a cuddly toy on one side and a picture on the other, making it less likely to be discovered. The camera was sophisticated enough to zoom in and follow the girls as they moved around the room, capturing their private moments without their knowledge.

The court heard that Hallaron initially purchased the camera with the intention of recording a family birthday celebration. However, he later decided to use it for his own sexual gratification. Prosecutor Geraldine Kelly explained that the first victim, a 15-year-old girl whose identity remains protected, was recorded in March of the previous year while trying on different types of underwear. The footage showed Hallaron operating the camera remotely, zooming in on her as she moved around her room.

The second victim, a 16-year-old girl, was staying at Hallaron’s house with her parents during the summer of the incident. Miss Kelly detailed that Hallaron, who was teaching her to play the guitar, took advantage of moments when they were alone. He engaged her in inappropriate conversations about her developing body and advised her to massage her breasts to prevent sagging, all while she was lying on her bed and looking up at a ceiling mirror. Hallaron then filmed her changing clothes and massaging her exposed breasts, capturing these intimate moments on his hidden device.

After two days of continuous filming, the 16-year-old girl noticed the hidden camera. She alerted her parents, and the family left the house in the early hours of the morning to report the matter to the police. Law enforcement officers found the camera still in place, and Hallaron admitted to his actions when questioned. He explained that he was lonely, had no sexual contact with women, and resorted to filming the girls for his own sexual pleasure. Hallaron expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging that he had let down his friends and their families.

During the court hearing, Miss Kelly requested that the camera be forfeited and destroyed to prevent any further misuse. Hallaron’s defense lawyer, Michael Smith, assured the court that there was no intention to distribute or share the footage, emphasizing that the recordings were solely for his personal use.

Judge Peter Collier QC, the Recorder of Leeds, described the case as “very sad,” and acknowledged that Hallaron, despite his age, had led a seemingly decent life until this incident. The judge noted that Hallaron’s loneliness and desire for sexual gratification had led him to abuse the trust of the young girls and his friends. However, he also pointed out that Hallaron was honest with police from the outset.

As a result, Hallaron was sentenced to a community order with three years of supervision. He is required to attend the Accredited Sex Offenders’ Programme, sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years, and is subject to a sexual offences prevention order. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding and the devastating impact of breaches of trust within communities.
