A pensioner named Richard Gordon, aged 65, has been found guilty of a campaign of harassment and stalking toward his neighbour in Aberdeen.
The incident started after Patricia Baxter, aged 58, refused to go out for a drink with him.
Gordon, who was a retired surveyor, spied on Baxter and conducted aggressive and intrusive actions against her and her neighbors over a period of six years.
Although he claimed to be conducting neighborhood watch activities, the court, held at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, convicted him of four charges of breaching the peace.
Sheriff Kieran McLernan recognized Baxter as a victim of stalking behavior and commended the neighborhood for their 'commendable tolerance' of Gordon's actions.
The sheriff noted that acting in an eccentric manner is not a crime but persistent, offensive behavior constitutes a social problem.
The court deferred sentencing Gordon for background reports to be prepared.
