RHYDIAN MORSE SHOCKS CLUNDERWEN WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON SCHOOLGIRL IN LOCAL SHOP
In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community of Clunderwen, a local man named Rhydian Morse has admitted to sexually assaulting a young schoolgirl inside a shop. The incident, which occurred on April 3, has brought to light serious concerns about safety and conduct within the town.Rhydian Morse, aged 33 and residing at Prescelly View, appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday, May 28, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual assault against a female. The court was presented with CCTV footage capturing the unsettling event, which played a crucial role in the case.
According to the prosecution, led by Dennis Davies, Morse was observed lifting the skirt of a 15-year-old girl while they were both inside a local shop. The footage clearly showed the moment of the assault, which left the young girl visibly shaken. She was dressed in her school uniform at the time and reacted by slapping Morse before fleeing the store. Her departure was prompted by her turning around and discovering Morse standing behind her with his hand still on her skirt, an act that understandably caused her distress.
When confronted about his actions, Morse denied any wrongdoing, claiming, “I was not doing anything.” Despite his denial, the evidence against him was compelling. The girl, visibly upset, immediately informed her mother about the incident, who then contacted the police to report the assault.
During police interviews, Morse stated that he had not entered the store with the intention of committing any offence. He described himself as “not the sort of person” to behave in such a manner. Regarding the CCTV footage, he acknowledged that it was “pretty self-explanatory,” but he was unable to provide a rational explanation for his actions.
The magistrates, after hearing the case, requested a probation report to assess Morse’s suitability for sentencing. He was released on bail under strict conditions, which included a prohibition from approaching any females under the age of 18, a ban from entering the specific convenience store involved, and a restriction on contacting the victim in any way. Morse is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on June 13, where further legal proceedings will determine his future.
This incident has raised serious concerns within the Clunderwen community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and safeguarding measures to protect vulnerable individuals from such distressing acts.
